[Something had seemed off, but he couldn't place it, not at first. It was still morning, and he was still waking, and things seemed sort of correct. But then they didn't. The stuff in his room seemed arranged differently, stacks of books he didn't remember in languages he couldn't read. There were trinkets that seemed magical he didn't know what they were for. He could feel the magic in the room even if he couldn't comprehend it, but understood intrinsically that it was there.

He frowned. This was his room, wasn't it? But it was different. When the strange tall black haired woman knocked on his door and asked his name at first he thought perhaps she was just some servant he didn't know who also apparently wasn't keen on titles, but that wasn't it at all, was it? She looked...familiar, and yet not the familiar, the way the room seemed.

Loki was scared. He gathered the blankets closer to himself and moved back towards the headboard, as if that might do anything.]

Who are you?

[Said almost convincingly, as if he had any courage left, and could summon the sort of over-bearing presence that was befit to royalty.]

What are you doing here?

[glaived]

[ Oh no. Oh no. With a quick look over her shoulders at the guards, Sif slipped into the room, shutting the door as fast as she could. This was a problem. A big problem, one they couldn't work around.

Because she knew that face, having pushed him to the ground when she was his age because he'd said something stupid or insulting. Most often both. ]

You don't recognize me?

[ Of course he wouldn't. She had blonde hair then - before he'd cut it all off out of some some fit of jealousy. ]

[trickstering]

[Her quick actions only serve to disquiet him further, but he knows not what he ought to do. If Thor were here, he would know - he was braver, and stupider besides.

But what she says is interesting.]

[glaived]

[ Don't panic, Sif. Don't panic. Loki's just turned into a kid. He can talk, which is progress over him going back to being a horse. ]

I'm Sif.

[trickstering]

No you're not. Sif is my age. And she has blond hair.

[and she doesn't have...curves like that....]

[glaived]

I grew up. And you cut off my hair.

[ well. now she does. ]

[trickstering]

[glaived]

Jealousy, I do not know. It matters not, not after centuries.

[ but she's going to take a few steps forward to peeeeer at him. ]

[trickstering]

[oh she's getting closer and he's running out of places to back away into.]

[too quickly, as if telling her will keep her on that side of his room]

[ yeah no he's out of luck she is right there Loki. what are you going to do about it. ]

If this is another virus-- [ trailing off, because she's beginning to hate the things. ]

[trickstering]

[he looks down at the covers sheepishly, not really understanding anything of what she just said.]

[glaived]

[ well then Sif is just going to sit on the foot of his bed and not look at him because oh god what does she do with a younger Loki. ]

[trickstering]

[So they will just sit here really awkwardly, then. No actually after a little while he finally says]

Where is Thor?

[glaived]

On Midgard.

[ please don't make her explain this, Loki. please. ]

[trickstering]

[glaived]

[ damn it. ]

Your father banished him before he fell into the Odinsleep. You are king of Asgard now.

[trickstering]

[This is too confusing, and it feels like a hundred questions come to mind at once and before he can stop them coming spilling from his mouth, too.]

That doesn't make sense - what could he have done and why wouldn't I fix it if I were king? I don't understand.

[and then more quietly]

Thor is supposed to be king.

[glaived]

I don't either. [ because she doesn't. she doesn't know why Loki doesn't try and fix this mess and bring Thor back to them. ] But it is what it is, and there is nothing you can do as you are.

[ a longer pause. ]

What is supposed to be does not matter. You are king, not he.

[trickstering]

[He crawls out from underneath the covers and just stares at her, mustering as much judgment as a 200yearold can.]

Those aren't answers.

[glaived]

I learned the art of avoidance from the best.

[ hah!! ]

Thor nearly broke the peace between Jotunheim and Asgard - banishment is his punishment.

[trickstering]

I see.

[somehow that is not surprising, really.]

[glaived]

He is not alone, though. He has made friends - mortal ones.

[ as if it'll be some comfort to him. ]

[trickstering]

Mortals? How does that even work?

[glaived]

Well once one is banished to Midgard, it only stands that those he'd meet are mortals.

[ gosh Loki. ]

[trickstering]

[he sighs. he's 200, not stupid. whatever he just. won't ask questions and sulk here instead.]
