History:
Hokay, So. Asgard. It's this cool looking disc planet thing hovering out in space populated by an alien race that everyone in 900s Norway mistook for gods. And you know what, it's a pretty legitimate mistake. Long story short - there was a war between these Frost Giants (Jotunn) and the Asgardians (Aesir) and the Aesir totally curbstomped their asses back to Jotunheim and that was that. Asgard continued to suffer highly from the opinion that they are the best of the best and have a right to act within their own interests regardless of any of the other realms. They're a warrior culture deep at heart with a nice shiny exterior slapped over it and also kind of sexist. Go Asgard!
Okay somewhere around that time, Sif is born. She may or may not be the (half) sister of Heimdal (which is the all-seeing all-hearing guardian of this thing called the Bifrost which is this wormhole generator to wherever else in the universe. it's pretty sweet) and she may or may not have been born with blonde hair (that Loki cut off out of jealousy when they were younger). She probably was friends with the two princes and a lady of the court itself (if a bad one). But what is known is that at a young age Sif decided to become a warrior against all expectation and much to the scorn of Asgard. A woman? Becoming a warrior? Nonsense!
Yet Sif proved wrong all who scoffed at the idea and became one of the best, if not the best warrior (aside from Thor and Odin, of course) in all of Asgard. It's a point of pride for her, even though she doesn't desire the glory of victories like Thor does. Instead, due to marketing and good decisions by all involved, Sif is the Goddess of War - it's the battle in which she delights in. Anyway she, Thor, Loki, and the Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg) become friends and had many adventures together.
So now we're up to the movie! Hooray! Anyway Thor is just about to be crowned King of Asgard as Odin nears the Odinsleep until - oh my god the Jotunn managed to get into the weapons vault - and Thor's coronation is canceled. Throwing a fit and not listening to Sif who points out that going to Jotunnheim is you know, not allowed, Thor, his brother, Sif, and the Warriors Three go and head off to this planet to figure out how the hell they got in to Asgard in the first place. Of course this goes badly and Odin comes and saves everyone's ass and Thor gets banished. It sucks.
Anyway while Thor is busy being hit by Jane with her car, Sif and the Warriors Three are like "oh god what do" and Sif decides to ask Loki to go talk to Odin and convince him to let Thor back. Loki is all "… No that is a bad idea he deserves what he got this is for the good of Asgard" and then stalks off in an epic manner. Sif and the Warriors Three continue talking and while Sif admits that Loki has always been jealous of Thor she seems loathe to agree with Hogun that Loki could have possibly been the traitor. So they all join up to go and talk to Odin about this possible problem only to find out that whoops Loki is sitting on the throne because Odin has decided to take a super convenient nap. So Sif, being Sif, is like "Hey Loki now that you're king you should go and end Thor's banishment" and Loki is just like "How about no" and Sif makes to punch him in his face but the Warriors Three hold her back.
THIS IS WHERE WE ARE LAST TIME I KNEW
Eventually the four of them realize that they need to go and get Thor back because shit is going down and you know what, Thor should be in Asgard instead of not. Except that they make this mistake of saying it out loud and Heimdal hears them and summons them. Except he's not angry - he actually wants them to go and bring Thor back. So he helps them go off to Earth like a boss.
And once there they kind of burst the lie that Loki told Thor - lol jk your dad is still alive, your brother lied to you, and what's that? A giant magical robot sent by Loki to destroy them all? Tough day. So yeah magical robot comes, Sif is a badass and still doesn't kill it, Thor dies but comes back because his act of self sacrifice proved he was worthy of wielding his awesome hammer.
They return to Asgard, Thor lays the smack down on Loki and he apparently commits suicide. Sif is then left looking pretty darn sad about the state of the realm as she relays how Thor is feeling to Frigga. And that's all of Sif's history until her maybe cameo in the Avengers and Thor 2.

![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
Sif is a study in passion, pride, movement, tenaciousness, loyalty, and a small amount of reason.
Passion, because there is nothing she doesn't do half heartedly. For Sif, it's all or nothing - there's no middle ground. It doesn't matter what - she approaches everything with the same amount of intensity. It makes her incredibly easy to read, for she never bothers to hide what she's feeling or doing at any one moment. And that itself doesn't bother her, for she considers that she has nothing to hide from anymore. She's not afraid to voice her opinions on anything and can always be counted to be honest with others.
Pride, because she's earned her place in the world. After fighting against discrimination and the perception of all others around her and what she can and cannot achieve as a woman, Sif knows that she's earned her position as one of the best warriors in her world. While she cares little for the trappings of glory and honor, she still values her achievements and will stick up for herself when someone else tries to steal it away from her. Beyond her personal pride of her hard earned accomplishments, there's the pride of being an Asgardian, of her people and her world.
Movement, because Sif needs to always find herself in motion whether it's physical or environmental. Stagnation is not a choice for her - she is an individual ruled by passion and pride and therefore staying still has no appeal. If there is something to be done, she will attempt to do it. If something needs to be said, she will say it.
Tenaciousness, because once she's put her mind towards something, very little will shake her from that path. Telling her that she's not able to do something will only make her more intent on finding a way to achieve it. Nothing in her life has ever come to her without her having to fight for it - throwing the opinions of others to the wayside as she made her own way. One could go so far to say she's stubborn, but unlike others, she doesn't blindly force her way through unless pushed too far. Instead she constantly works at it, a steady constant force until it gives.
Loyalty, because most of her adult life is sworn to being such. As a shield-maiden of Asgard she has sworn herself to the protection of Asgard and of all the realms, and values the loyalty she's earned from her friends and her companions. But in the same vein, she expects it to be returned to her. Betrayal is something she can comprehend but never understand - near unforgivable. It involves turning on family, on friends, and she is loathe to even consider that as an option. What follows is that her loyalty and trust is something hard to earn; she's had centuries to come to trust her friends on and off the battlefield - they cannot be replaced that easily. But once someone has her trust they have a friend who will stick with them no matter what, unless they betray anyone or something.
Reason, though she pales in comparison to someone like Loki. But Sif is more than capable of recognizing when a plan is a bad one, and even though she may go through with it in the end it's not blindly walking in thinking everything would go smoothly. She's knows there's a line that can be crossed and aims to keep herself and others from crossing over that line. Rash actions only lead to bad decisions - something she's not opposed to, but she'd better be capable of getting herself out of them.
All in all, while Sif is at times fierce and uncompromising, she's not a complete bastion of unfriendliness. Passionate in all that she does, she is a woman of action and general good humor - unafraid to tease or make jests at those she holds dear. But she is a warrior at heart, and that is something that will never change.
Other:
Sif is an Asgardian which comes with the caveat that she's stronger, more durable, has a higher stamina, and so on and so forth than your average human. It's kind of a thing. Also they can breathe in space.

First Person (entry type):
voice;
While I am sure whoever gifted Loki this 'Kindle' had only the best intentions, I regret to inform them that it has only contributed to make him even more insufferable than he was. [ the tone of the voice implies that saying such a thing could get her in trouble, but that she doesn't care. ] And considering no one else will admit that he is, it falls to me. Though he should make note that beating him over the head with it is not an option I haven't already considered.
But I can see why he has become so taken with this device, though I do not share the fascination he and Thor have developed with Midgard and the other realms one is now connected with. Except for possible challenges that they present. [ here her voice becomes more animated ] Which is to say that if there are individuals seeking a sparring partner or have monsters that require slaying - come forth. It has been some time since I have fought with anyone new and I wish for a challenge.
Third Person:
The only thing that following Loki on his quest to find a dragon that appealed to Sif - two things, rather - was firstly the ability to say I told you so to his face when they didn't find anything, and secondly a perfect opportunity to fight whatever they did stumble across.
That, of course, were her thoughts hours earlier on the excursion. Now, however, she was just hungry and tired. They've long passed the realm of sanity and hovered obscenely close to what passed for it in the minds of both Odinsons. Loki and Thor might deny that they were anything like each other - but in their stubbornness and drive to prove what they believed in they were not that different from the other. And when combined with Thor's constant desire for adventure, the younger prince could often lead them on a spirited chase for nearly anything.
Aggravating really, Sif thought, as she scrambled over an old cave in. There'd been nothing to fight to relieve the pressure within her - just the belief that they were headed somewhere. She'd much rather have something to sink her blade into than simply take Loki's - oftentimes embellished - word that dragons still existed.
Which was why when they actually came upon one, Sif could hardly believe her eyes. In retrospect, she should have reasoned that Loki rarely couldn't find something he wanted to - even if he had to lie and tell Thor that glory awaited them when all he really wanted was a chance to steal some small trinket from wherever they journeyed to. She'd caught him at it more than once, and knew his actions for what they were.
But even knowing that he would continually rub the existence of this dragon in their faces until their own twilight, Sif couldn't help the grin that spread over her face at the sight. Credit where credit was begrudgingly due, it was an image she wasn't going to forget in a hurry. Perhaps she'd thank Loki and Thor for it later.
Perhaps not.
